-UFS 211 - ACADEMIC READING AND WRITTING

TASK 1 - GRAMMAR-LISTING, BUBBLING AND BRAINSTORMING

LISTING
-Prewriting is important because it helps you generate ideas for writing. One popular technique is listing. One reason that this technique is popular with writers is that we use list-making skills often in our everyday lives. Many people make lists of grocery items before going to the supermarket, and others make lists of "things to do," like homework assignments and chores.

EXAMPLE-
-MY FAVOURITE FOOD
1.FRIED RICE
2.TOM YAM SEAFOOD
3.BURGER
4.SAUSAGE
5.MAMAK FRIED MEE

BUBBLING
-Bubbling is a great technique when you have not yet developed a clear idea of where you are going with your topic.

-First, pick a word or phrase related to your topic. For example, let's look at how the topic of obesity in children could be explored in bubbling.

-Then, start with that phrase: obesity in children and draw a circle and put that phrase in it.

-Now think about some things relating to this. For example, you might want to look into the causes of childhood obesity and the effect it has on health.

-Add circles radiating from your main circle.

BRAINSTORMING
-"Brainstorming" means thinking of as many ideas as possible in a short amount of time.

There are few example how to make a brainstroming :

-Write down your ideas so that you don't forget them.
-Write down everything that comes to your mind; don't worry about sorting out "good" and "bad" ideas.
-Don't worry about spelling or grammar.
